Love Island Australia is an Australian dating reality show based on the international Love Island franchise. Following the premise of other versions of the Love Island format, the show features a group of single contestants, known as "islanders" who live together in a luxury villa that is isolated from the outside world, in an attempt to find love. Throughout the series, the contestants "couple up" to avoid being dumped from the villa. Additionally, Australia will vote for their favourite islanders to stay in the villa. As old islanders are dumped, new islanders will enter the villa. At the end, Australia will vote one final time to determine the winning couple. The series is presented by Sophie Monk[2] and narrated by Eoghan McDermott from seasons 1 to 2[3] and Stephen Mullan from season 3 onwards.[4]
Love Island involves a group of contestants, referred to as Islanders, living in isolation from the outside world in a villa, and constantly under video surveillance. They are allowed to use their phones for the sole reason of receiving texts from producers, alerting them of upcoming dates and activities. To survive in the villa the Islanders must be coupled up with another Islander, whether it be for love, friendship, survival or money, as the overall winning couple receives $50,000. On the first day, the Islanders couple up for the first time based on first impressions, but over the duration of the series, they are forced to "re-couple" where they can choose to remain in their current couple or swap and change. It is common for Islanders to strategically choose their partner not based on love but as a pact for the two to stay on the island as long as possible, waiting for their ideal match.
Any Islander who remains single after the coupling is eliminated and dumped from the island. Islanders can also be eliminated via public vote, as during the series the Australian public will be instructed to vote through the Love Island app available on smartphones for their favourite islanders, or who they think is the most compatible. Couples who receive the fewest votes risk being eliminated. Additionally, at points in the series, the dumpings will be determined by the Islanders, as they are forced to vote one of their own off the island. During the final week, the public vote for which couple they want to win the series and therefore take home $50,000.
Mitch and Tina had a second shot at love this season on Love Island, getting back together and finishing the show in a seemingly happy place. When viewers watched the finale, it seemed like the happy couple were going strong, yet with the season pre-recorded fans were curious to see how the relationship was going.
The plasterer, 27, made it all the way to Day 31 before he was dumped from the island. He was coupled up with Cartier for the majority of his time in the villa but she quickly moved onto Matthew, leaving him single.
Following the show, it looked like he could have a new love interest after he posted a photo with a lady who goes by the name of Renee Ashley. In the image the duo appeared to be enjoying a day at Luna Park in Melbourne.
Despite not finding love while on the show, Gerard did later strike up a relationship with one of his Love Island co-stars - 28-year-old hairdresser Jordan Cayless, who arrived on the island on Day 15.
Despite being unlucky in love on the show, Cassidy has made a great influencing career for herself in the years that have followed. She promotes lots of different brands and says the influencing is harder work than people think. She has remained BFFs with Francoise from the show, and she's in love with a new man (although she's keeping his identity a secret).
Thank goodness for Josh, the only original islander to find love on the show! He is still with latecomer Amelia, and the couple are very much in love. Josh is obviously great at maintaining relationships, as he has continued his bromance with Dom too - they even have a podcast together called Intelligence Pending with Josh and Dom.
Now, double that: there is also an Australian version. It's the same format, the same island, the same fundamental need within every contestant to identify their "type" within three seconds of the first eye-fuck. Different people, different slang, different diets.
Cassidy McGill was unlucky in love during her time in the villa. She had flings with several members of the Love Island Australia Season 1 cast, getting with Grant Crapp, Elias Chigros and Josh Moss. She ended up being booted out on her own.
Back to Love Island: you weren\\u2019t familiar with it at the start, but have you fallen for its charms since then?Yeah, I mean I definitely went down the YouTube rabbit hole on Love Island Australia, and I feel like I got to know the characters a bit more from Season One and Season Two. I feel like they were two very different seasons, the first one there were punch-ups and everything: it reminded me of that Aussie Rules game. But the second season seemed to be the charming Australian side, and I really enjoyed a lot of the characters. I really enjoyed Adam, he came across to me like a genuine bloke. But then he fell in love with this girl Cartier, who was really religious, a born-again Christian, and my dad was a preacher so I know those types of people. I found those guys fascinating.
"We can't thank each and everyone of you enough, for the support and love you have shown us, but we have to be honest within ourselves as we realise that our forever as a couple, is no longer. We look forward to supporting each other moving forward and remain best friends."
The truth about Lucy was particularly shocking as Grant and Tayla had been intimate during their time on Love Island, with Grant even declaring his love for Tayla before planning an elaborate proposal to ask her to be his girlfriend.
BenAge: 25Occupation: Personal TrainerLocation: Sydney, NSWHaving studied economics, worked as an accountant and personal trainer, studying acting and now appearing on Love Island, Ben has seemingly lived a lot of different lives before entering the villa. If all that wasn't enough, he's also hoping to enter politics one day and maintains that he's serious about finding true love inside the villa. He describes himself as genuine and is hoping to meet a girl who is looking for the same things he is.
Mitchell EliotAge: 25Occupation: Personal TrainerLocation: Sydney, NSWAs the token Kiwi, Mitchell just recently made the leap from Sydney to Auckland. He's likely looking for a lady to show him around town, especially after having his heart broken once before. Let's hope he can find an everlasting (and reciprocal) love in the villa.
Conor HowardAge: 26Occupation: Real Estate AgentLocation: Sydney, NSWAs one of Sydney's top real estate agents, Conor undoubtedly has the gift of the gab. He says he auditioned for the show to get him out of his comfort zone, but his motivation to find his forever love is still ambiguous at best.
Madeline (or Mads) is the latest bombshell to enter the villa. There was a big surprise twist for the islanders as she entered with another bombshell, Hugh, who turns out to be her twin!
The UK version is coming along nicely, but what about the Australians? Are they equally as annoying? Do they have a handsome doctor who's been unlucky in love? Do they have an Adam? Do they also all know each other from home?
A CAT! THEY HAVE A CAT! NOT JUST ANY CAT, BUT A TALKING CAT! Truly, we are being taken for fools. Our Love Islanders have a fridge full to the brim with various juices, but the Australians have a cat that talks. He's even got a little tube of Neutrogena to keep his skin looking and feeling fresh. Side note: It's entirely likely that the cat will find love before Samira does over in the other villa, and that is a tragic thing to process. Truly, how have they managed to get a cat in the villa? Is it looking for love? Does it like ham? Someone please get in touch.
Two of the guys found out that they would be going on a double date with the new arrivals. Giddy at the prospect of finding true love in Mallorca, the guys raced up the stairs and into the shower, where they washed in perfect harmony together. That's a beautiful thing. Male friendship is an incredibly pure and wholesome thing to witness. Not only did they get to have a thorough scrub together, they also conserved water. Do the contestants shower together on the British Love Island? No. They most certainly do not. They want Spain to run out of water. They are scum. Adam probably has a bath instead of a shower because he knows it uses more water. I feel sick.
The editor knew exactly what he/she was doing. That's a lengthy 7.8-second shot of unbridled comedy. What happened next? The guy on the couch told the girl that he loves her and hopes to marry her one day, 18 episodes into the show. They have known each other for 18 days. This is perfection. They looked stupid before anyone started speaking and now they look insane. Our Love Island doesn't offer up much in the realm of dry humour and that's a crying shame. Don't they want us to laugh? Don't they want us to experience pure joy? We're being deprived and it's not right or fair.
When you put a group of beautiful young singles together on a tropical island for the sizzling dating show Love Island with booze, fun dates, and a $50,000 prize pool you can expect a few people to simply play the game.
There have been two seasons of Love Island Australia so far but with a third season starting soon, we take a look back to see if true love can be found on a show and if not, have they managed to find love since.
"Moving forward I would just like to let you all know that Cartier has decided that the two of us are better off suited as friends, I respect Cartier and her decision," Matthew said on his Instagram post. "She is truly a beautiful girl and I wish the best for her in the future! Hope you can all support us finding true love." 781b155fdc
